Ranch History

Mountcrest Ranch sits on land shaped by generations of people who lived, worked, and explored the hills of Bennett Valley long before it became the retreat it is today. From the Miwok communities who first stewarded this landscape, to the ranching families who farmed and raised livestock here for more than a century, the property carries a deep sense of place and history.

The modern Mountcrest Ranch draws inspiration from an earlier ranch owned by my great-grandfather in Northern California—a place where summers were spent riding horses, tending animals, and exploring wide open land. That spirit of connection to nature, family, and gathering together continues to shape the ranch today.

What exists now is both a continuation and a reimagining of that legacy: historic barns and stories from the past alongside modern homes designed for people to slow down, explore the land, and share memorable experiences together.

What Our Guests say

Incredible house on a beautiful property. Our family of 17 people was comfortable during our Thanksgiving weekend. The kitchen was well-stocked, the beds were comfy, there was plenty of space for everyone (ages 4-82), and the hot tub was great. The owner was quick to respond to our messages and sent housekeeping to address what we needed. Bonus was the karaoke machine and the vinyl record player 🙂
We really enjoyed our stay!

This is a special place. Beautiful scenery and a lovely house. Plentiful space and sleeping areas. Responsive and friendly hosts. Love the '70s decor! Bonus: farm animals and wildlife and a nice hot tub. We had a great time and we hope it's available next time we visit the area.

No joke: this is the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in! I can't think of a better spot for a birthday getaway with friends and family. The house, the views, the pool... the VIBE all were spot on and contributed to a magical weekend. I am already trying to convince my friends to repeat the trip for their birthdays! On top of the perfect space, the host was incredibly kind, responsive, and accommodating. Overall, this is truly a special house and anyone who gets to experience it is very lucky indeed.
